Jasmine Trias Needs Hawaii's Votes on American Idol

Wednesday May 19, 2004
It's down to the final three on Fox's The American Idol. All three contestants performed three songs on last night's show. One song was picked by the performer. One song was picked by the judges and one song picked by guest judge and music mogul, Clive Davis. founder of Arista records. Jasmine Trias performed "Saving All My Love," the Whitney Houston classic, Natalie Cole's "Mr. Melody." and "All By Myself."

Jasmine's performances were, once again, quite possibly, the weakest of the three performers. While Jasmine looked great, her voice is still that of a 17 year old with little professional training. Her range continues to hurt her along with her comfort level with any song chosen for her by someone else.

None of this, however, means that Jasmine will be voted off this week's show. Her support from her fans in Hawaii and elsewhere has been tremendous. She will, once again, need that support today.

Critics will say that the voting has been unfair. Jasmine should have been voted off weeks ago. Suporters will claim that what makes a star is not necessarily that he or she is better than all others, but that she has a loyal and enthusiastic fan base. In that regard, Jasmine has proven that she is a star.

Here is you chance to vote. We've set up another poll so that you can cast your vote for whom should be voted off this week's show. Be sure to cast your real vote, but we'd like to hear your pick here also in our poll.

Vote for whom should be voted off this week.
