Waikiki Trolley Creates the "Waikiki Circulator"
Wednesday September 14, 2005
Waikiki Trolley has modified its Pink Line to better serve its riders. Previously called the "Pink Line Route," it is now the "Waikiki Circulator" This circulator system runs every six to eight minutes. It covers major stops throughout Waikiki and the cost is $2.00 per each ride. A weekly pass is offered at a very special low rate that permits the rider to get on and off the Circulator (the Pink Line only) all week.
Currently, Waikiki Trolley offers three other lines in addition to the Pink Line, the latter being the new Waikiki circulator. All these Waikiki Trolley routes cover tourist attractions and stop at major shopping malls on Oahu. In Waikiki, we often see their classic trolleys driving past us on the street.
On April 18, 1986, Waikiki Trolley started E Noa Tours with two trolleys. These were the first trolleys ever to hit the streets of Hawaii after the original electric trolleys of the early 1900s. Currently, Waikiki Trolley has a fleet of over 50 trolleys. Waikiki Trolleys are classic street reproductions of San Francisco cable cars with authentic brass and wood trimmings.
The current Waikiki Trolley route covers as far west as Bishop Museum, and as far east as Sea Life Park, making it one of the most extensive routes for Honolulu and its surrounding areas.
Over the last 15-year period, Waikiki Trolley has carried over 12 million passengers, and has chalked up enough mileage to go 2.5 times around the earth. For more information about Waikiki Trolley, visit www.waikikitrolley.com or call 1-808-593-8750.
