No Best Drama Nomination for LOST

Thursday July 6, 2006
I can't wait to see our LOST Guide Bonnie Covel's reaction to this. After winning Best Drama series last year, LOST was shutout of the major categories in this year's Emmy Nominations. The final nominees for drama series, lead and supporting acting awards were chosen by a "blue-ribbon" panel from the top 10 vote getters in nominations sent in by Academy members. The "blue-ribbon" panels screwed LOST. In the categories chosen under the old voting system LOST received 9 nominations:

Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series
Outstanding Cinematography For A Single-Camera Series
Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series
Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series (2)
Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series - Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond
Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing For A Series
Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series
Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series

How does a show get nominated for casting, directing and writing and not get nominated for Best Drama? Jump over to Bonnie's LOST site and let her know how you feel about this great Hawaii based series being snubbed by the TV Academy. At least LOST received a nomination in the cinematography category which pays tribute to all of those great Hawaii Lost Filming Locations that we've come to love as we search them out each week.

I’m in shock. I just can’t believe there were no nominations for best drama and for the main and supporting actors. These “blue-ribbon” people really don’t know what they are doing!

True … shocking is right. But I won’t complain as the actor that has shaken the Lost World since he first appeared in S01E01 … Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond David Hume was nominated as Best Guest Actor in a Drama! The Blue-Ribbon folks may not know what’s “Best Drama” but they sure as heck know what’s “Best Guest Star in a Drama”! And I’ll take that!! :D

John, could you please correct the spelling of Ian’s name? You wrote >>Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series – Ian Cussack as DesmondIt’s Henry Ian Cussick.

Thanks.

Actually, it’s Henry Ian Cusick, with one “S” and no “A.”

(5) Rosie Powell says:

Aside from Michelle Rodgriguez and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, hardly any of the main characters deserve a nomination.
