Fiji Islands - Site of the New Survivor: Fiji

Located in the South Pacific Ocean about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand, the islands of Fiji are home to the 14th edition of CBS's hit series Survivor which premiers tonight. Fiji consists of 844 islands and islets, of which 105 are inhabited. The two main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are home to 90% of the population.
Filming of Survivor: Fiji took place in the fall of 2006. Survivor was filming when a military coup overthrew the Fijian government, however, filming of Survivor was not interrupted. In anticipation of tonight's first episode, let's take a closer look at the history and culture of the Fiji Islands.
