  • Hawaii gets more visitors in 10 days than Tahiti does in an entire year.

  • In ancient Tahiti, archery was a sacred sport, practiced only by people of high rank. And while they were expert marksmen, bows and arrows were never used as weapons of war.

  • It’s common to put a tiare (Tahiti’s national flower, a fragrant white blossom) behind one’s ear -- left side you’re taken, right if you’re looking.

  • James Michener’s mythical island of Bali Hai is likened to Moorea.

Over half the population is under 20? That is incredible. I wonder how they manage that - some aging countries would be willing to find out, I’m sure.

Here are some other FACTS to add:

- There are no tips in Tahiti
- The local famous sport is called “Va’a” it’s the outrigger canoe like you find in Hawaii
-Tahiti and Marquesas have many differences, they speak with different words, differnt culture and landscape is totally different to Tahiti.
-Francs Pacific (XFP) is the local money witch could be converted to 1 euro equals 119 XFP, as U.S dollar is currently low, everything in Tahiti is expensive, also most of products are imported from overseas.
