The USS Arizona Memorial is the sixth most visited memorial in the United States with over 1.5 million visitors per year according to ForbesTraveler.com. Established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958, the memorial honors the 1,177 crew members who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
The USS Arizona Memorial was completed in 1961 and sits atop the submerged wreckage of the battleship where those lost remain forever interred. The Memorial is also Hawaii's most visited free tourist attraction. Along with the Battleship Missouri which is moored just yards away along former Battleship Row, these two great ships mark the beginning and end of the United States' involvement in World War II.
