It was a good weekend for Hawaii in the realm of sports.

Oahu's Michelle Wie won her second LPGA golf tournament with a wire-to-wire win in the CN Canadian Women's Open, taking home a cool $337,500, more than doubling her year-to-date earnings. That will pay for her next couple of years at Stanford University to which Michelle will return in late September.

I'll be interested in seeing the LPGA's TV ratings for Sunday. First of all they finally carried two rounds of a tournament live rather than on tape delay. Secondly Michelle Wie is a huge draw with the television audience.

You can read more about Michelle's win in About.com's Golf Guide Brent Kelley's feature Win No. 2 for Michelle Wie.

Then find out about where you can golf in Hawaii.

On Sunday, the United States Champion Little League team from Waipio/Waipahu Oahu fell to Japan 4-1 in the Little League World Series Championship Game. These kids from Hawaii lost their first game in the double-elimination tournament and had to win five straight games to make it to the Championship Game. This is the same team (with different players) than won the championship in 2008.

The team didn't win this time, but the kids played great and it was great to see all of those Hawaiian faces in the crowd here in Pennsylvania. You can read more about the team and their great run in today's Honolulu Star Advertiser.
