I'm heading to Kauai soon and, while my schedule is very busy, I do have some free time on a couple of days.
So, if you've been to Kauai recently and found something new that you really enjoyed - be it an activity, a restaurant or a very special place, tell me about it in the comment field below.
I've been very impressed how, in recent years, Kauai has had so many eco-friendly companies start activities. You can ride horseback, zipline, take a photo safari, and so much more.
I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts.

If you are talking eco-friendly, nothing beats the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge as one of the best places on the main Hawaiian islands to view wildlife. Thousands of migratory seabirds use the refuge each year for nesting, foraging, or resting – including Laysan albatross (moli), red-footed boobies (‘a), brown boobies (‘a), red-tailed tropicbirds (koa‘e ‘ula), white-tailed tropicbirds (koa ‘e‘kea), great frigatebirds (‘iwa), newell’s shearwater (‘a’o), and wedge-tailed shearwaters (ua‘u‘ kani). It is beautiful, educational, and economical.
A couple off the beaten path activities to consider:
1) Visit the lovely grounds of Kauai’s Hindu Monastery
2) Take a tour of Kunana Dairy. It’s a really neat farm tour and their products are terrific especially their goat cheeses.
A really special place that many Poipu visitors miss out on is Mahaulepu. You can either hike there from Shipwreck beach, or take a very bumpy but drivable dirt road.
Kauai is by far my Favorite Island. I travel to the islands regularly for business and I always make it a point to do some sightseeing. My last trip I went out with Kauai ATV for a tour of the “Wettest place on earth” and the valley of where many movies were filmed.
Queens Bath in Princeville is also a neat spot to visit however you can not do it in the fall and winter months due to the high surf and rogue waves.
