As fall approaches it's time for Aloha Festivals, Hawaii's annual celebration of Hawaiian culture, integrating the traditions and cultures of the Islands through music, dance, cuisine and art. This year's Festival theme is Mele 'Ailana: Celebrate Island Music.
It all kicks off on Thursday, September 1, 2011 with the 2011 Royal Court Investiture at 3:00 p.m. at the Hilton Hawaiian VillageŽ Waikiki Beach Resort. Traditional chant and hula highlight this annual event as the 2011 Alii receive their royal symbols of reign. Admission is free.
Several of the big events include the Waikiki Ho'olaule'a (Hawaii's largest block party) on Saturday, September 17, 2011 and the always beautiful annual Aloha Festivals Floral Parade on Saturday, September 24, 2011.
If you plan on being on Oahu in September, be sure to take in some of the Aloha Festivals events. Find out all about them in our feature on Aloha Festivals 2011.
