For the first time in several years, the LPGA will be returning to Hawaii in 2012. At one time there were three LPGA tournaments in Hawaii - the SBS Open at Turtle Bay, the Fields Open in Hawaii at Ko Olina Golf Club and the Kapalua LPGA Classic at the Kapalua Resort, Bay Course on Maui.
The new tournament, the $1.7 million LPGA LOTTE Championship Presented bu J Golf will take place on the island of Oahu from April 18-21. The tournament venue has not yet been announced, but the tournament will be a four day, full 144 player field. The tournament will be televised by the Golf Channel.
LOTTE is an industrial conglomerate in Korea and Japan employing more than 60,000 people. They are engaged in such diverse industries as candy manufacturing, beverages, hotels, fast food, retail, financial services, heavy chemicals, electronics, IT, construction, publishing, and entertainment. J Golf is the the LPGA's television rights holder in Korea and is distributed to 8 million homes in Korea.
