Hotel Wailea Maui
One of the true pleasures of being a travel writer is to find that special place or activity that you have either never heard of or knew very little about.
With most resorts you usually know what you're going to get before you step foot on the property.
When I was invited to spend a few days at the Hotel Wailea Maui, I realized that I had blogged about the change of ownership a few years ago, but I really was not prepared to be totally blown away by what I found after I stepped foot onto the property.
The Hotel Wailea Maui is a true gem and definitely worth consideration when planning your stay on Maui. It's not a mega-resort like several of its coastal neighbors in Wailea, but that's its really selling point. It's relatively small in terms of number of units - just 72 - but those 72 units sit on 15 stunning acres on the mountainside just a few minutes from the shore.
Add to that an extremely personable staff, a lovely pool area, great gardens and koi ponds and one of Maui's top restaurants and I think you'll be blown away too.
