I don't know about you, but I can hardly believe that Thanksgiving will be just a week from today. As is the case this year, November 22 is the earliest date that Thanksgiving can occur, since it always has to be on the fourth Thursday in November.

One of my favorite presidents, Franklin D. Roosevelt, is responsible for when in November the holiday occurs, as our Guide to 20th Century History, Jennifer Rosenberg, explains in her feature, How FDR Changed Thanksgiving.

I'm sure that the nation's retail stores love that there will be 33 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, but it also means that there's a nice long time-frame for all of us to celebrate the holiday season.

In Hawaii, many of the Christmas and holiday events begin on Thanksgiving weekend and some of the state's most popular events take place on the weekend that begins on Friday evening, November 30.

I've gathered all of the most recent information for Christmas and holiday events on each of the four major Hawaiian islands and whether you're planning to visit Hawaii over the holidays or are one of our many kama'aina readers, I hope that you find these features helpful:
