I don't get to Kauai as often as some of the other islands and, when I do, I most often stay on the South Shore on in the Lihue area.

A few years ago, however, my wife and I spent several days in the Princeville area and we made visiting Limahuli Garden one of our must things to do.

We hoped to visit the garden on a Monday, until we realized that they are closed on Monday. We then targeted Tuesday, only to find the weather pretty poor. Not to be deterred, we hopped in the car and drove the 45 minutes or so along the North Shore to Limahuli Garden.

The weather cleared a bit and the garden provided us with umbrellas and an excellent guidebook. We spent the next couple of hours hiking along the marked path and fully enjoying our visit.

You can read my profile of Limahuli Garden and Preserve and view my gallery of 36 photos and map of Limahuli Garden.

If you get a chance to go to Kauai there is a ton to see and it spreads from one end of the island to the other. Two of the best are Waimea Canyon and Ke’e beach, which overlooks the Napali coast.
