For the third straight year, after a three year absence, Lahaina, Maui will be hosting an official Halloween celebration in 2013.
In 2011, the event was restarted in a very low key manner as a test to see if attendees could behave themselves in a manner that was respectful to the history and culture of Lahaina. The event proved to be a huge success and it was expanded last year to include musical performances, an adult costume contest and, of course, the keiki (children's) parade, now in its 35th straight year.
A number of local restaurants and taverns have once again stepped up to sponsor this year's added events and attendance is expected to be as many as 30,000 people.
Shuttle service ($5) will once again be available from Central and South Maui and the Maui Bus has added additional service from points in West Maui at the normal rate of $2 each way or $4 for an unlimited day pass.
