Aug. 8-9: The 7th Annual Ka Hula Le'a offers an authentic glimpse into the beauty and spirituality of Hawaiian dance. It is accompanied by the Ka Hula Le'a Arts and Crafts Fair featuring native Hawaiian wares.

Sept 6: The 10th Annual Ms. Aloha Nui Pageant, part of the statewide Aloha Festivals, crowns the "hostess with the mostest." The pageant remembers when it was culturally correct for women to be big in Hawaii.

Sept. 7: The 12th Annual Kindy Sproat Falsetto/Storytelling Contest is hosted by Living Treasure Kindy Sproat. You not only have to sing a song, but also tell the story behind it, at this Aloha Festivals event.

Sept. 24: The Royal Lu'au with the Royal Court is pageantry at its best. Dressed in the authentic costume of Hawaiian ali'i, the Aloha Festivals royal court presides at a luau fit for a king.

Nov. 6-8: At Hawaii's Big Island Festival, enjoy guided petroglyph walks, lei making, wine and beverage seminars, cooking demos, paint your own coconut postcards, spa activities, Guest Chef & Wine Marers Dinner plus Hawaii's Big Island Expo; Best of the Big Island and New Spring Products 2004.

Nov. 15-April 15, 2004: The hotel's new Celebration of Whales Exhibit gives guests the scoop on Hawaii's official marine mammal and favorite repeat visitor-the 40-ton North Pacific Hawaiian Humpback whale. Receive one free Whale Watch cruise during this time with each stay of five nights or more.

Ongoing Activities: Ke Ahu Paepae O Hoaku Ho'omalu is a Hawaiian ceremony held at noon on the first Wednesday of each month where expatriated lava rocks are returned to the aina (land). Enjoy the song and dance of the islands nightly between 5 and 6 pm at Hula Sunsets, followed by the lighting of the torches throughout the hotel grounds at 6 p.m. During the Imu Preparation at 8:30 a.m. every Wednesday and Sunday, watch how the kalua pig is prepared and then placed in the Hawaiian imu, or earth oven, to ultimately be served at our Luau.
