Royal Hawaiian Guestroom

Starwood Hotels & Resorts of Hawaii
The Royal Hawaiian

A few steps away at the Tower Wing of the Royal Hawaiian, enhancements are under way to heighten the guest’s experience. All Tower Wing rooms at the hotel will emphasize a contemporary tropical ambiance, with Hawaiian flair carved wood and rattan furniture, orchid floral bedspreads, Hawaiian woven wall covering, light green carpet, cooling granite floor tile and unique light fixtures. Complementing the updated look to the rooms, the corridors, elevators, lobby, and breezeway will receive new carpet, furniture, light fixtures, and wall coverings.

Guests today appreciate spacious and functional bathrooms and these projects cater to this demand through design modifications. The bathrooms at both hotels also will be upgraded with new tile flooring and granite countertops and tub surroundings to create a more refined feel.

An Tradition of Superior Hospitality

The tower rejuvenations carry on the spirit of hospitality established by Walter C. Peacock and his Moana Hotel Company, Ltd. over a century ago. Envisioning a gracious tropical paradise, Mr. Peacock developed the first hotel built on Waikiki Beach. The Moana Hotel paved the way for tourism in Hawai’i and the island of Oahu. The modern luxuries of the Moana provided the Territory of Hawaii with its first electrical powered elevator while guestrooms had their own telephones and private baths, which were true innovations at the turn-of-the century. Two wings were added in 1918 to create the famous "H" shape recognized today. The Surfrider Hotel was built in 1952 and the Surfrider Tower in 1969.

When the original historic building of the Moana Hotel was restored in the late 1980’s, the two hotels were joined together to become the Sheraton Moana Surfrider Hotel, named for the surfers who charged Waikiki’s waves.

Built in 1927, The Royal Hawaiian Hotel made Waikiki a world-class destination. The property was once a playground for Hawaiian royalty, and the "Pink Palace" recaptures the glamour of Old Waikiki with its bold pink façade, vaulted Spanish archways and gracious rooms and suites. Even today, the romantic aura of The Royal Hawaiian kindles the hearts of travelers and wanderers.
