09/11/03 - International Market Place Renovation Planned
On September 10, 2003, the Queen Emma Foundation announced plans for a complete $100-150 million renovation of the area of the current International Market Place in Waikiki. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2005 and be completed sometime in 2007. We have all the details.

According to figures released on September 2, 2003, Hawaii now ranks fourth in the nation in the number of foreign born residents. Approximately 18% of Hawaii's 1,208,537 residents were born abroad. In addition 310,088 of Hawaii's residents, or approximately 25% were born in other states, U.S. territories or born abroad to U.S. Citizens.

Don't let the fact that this video was made in 1993 stop you from enjoying it. It's one of the best travel videos of Hawaii that I've seen anywhere. Sometimes irreverent, sometimes humorous, often educational, the Intrepid Berkeley Explorer offers superb video of such sites as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Lahaina, Haleakala, Kapapapa Peninsula, Pearl Harbor and even a helicopter tour of Kauai.
