We've Expanded
Hawaii for Visitors is now Hawaii/South Pacific for Visitors

As we bring another year to a close, you'll notice that Hawaii for Visitors has become Hawaii/South Pacific for Visitors. We've expanded - by several million square miles!

In addition to continuing to provide you with the best source of travel information on the islands of Hawaii, we will now be able to provide you with lots of useful information about the more than 10,000 islands scattered throughout what is broadly called the South Pacific.

The South Pacific is a term commonly accepted to include three primary regions in the Pacific Ocean - Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. From time to time you may also hear us refer to Oceania, another term often used to describe the area.

In the upcoming weeks, we'll be providing overview articles on the South Pacific as well as each of the three major regions. We'll also begin our series focusing on each of the major island groups/nations within each region.

Whether your dream is to visit French Polynesia and islands with romantic names like Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti, the Cook Islands and its lovely main island of Rarotonga or one or more of the over 300 islands in Fiji, we'll have information to help you make the decisions that are just right for you.

We'll also feature some of the less visited islands/nations of the South Pacific, many of which you may have only heard about in school. From Pitcairn Island in the east where the survivors of the mutiny on the Bounty made their home to the islands of Melanesia and Micronesia with names familiar to all from the great battles of World War II such as Guadalcanal, Kwajelein, the Solomon Islands, and Truk, the South Pacific is steeped in culture and history.

The islands of the Pacific are both destinations in themselves as well as gateways to the other nations of the Pacific Rim.

Hawaii remains a major tourist destination for travelers from the United States mainland, Japan, Canada, Europe and the other islands of Oceania. The South Pacific is a primary vacation destination for travelers from Australia and New Zealand and is becoming increasingly more popular as a worldwide tourist destination.

Travelers from Australia/New Zealand, Japan and mainland Asia often stop in Hawaii in route to destinations on the United States mainland and Canada. Travelers from Canada and the United States mainland often break up their trips to Australia/New Zealand, Japan and Asia with stopovers in Hawaii.
