Sheraton Resorts of Hawaii

Our day began with a great breakfast at Sam Choy's "Breakfast, Lunch and Crab," sponsored by the Oahu Visitors Bureau. If you want to experience some great Hawaiian cuisine, Sam Choy's is definitely the place for you.

We were so lucky to have KCCN's evening drive-time host Jo McGarry share with us her thoughts on what's good (and what's not so good) in terms of drink, food and entertainment in Honolulu. We'll have lots more on this once we get home to the mainland.

Today we traveled to Maui and specifically to the Sheraton Maui Hotel. There is a reason that Maui has been chosen for five consecutive years as the world's top island. The Sheraton Maui is a large part of that reason.

The Sheraton Maui was the first resort to open on Ka'anapali Beach back in 1963. However, other than the location itself, guests who have stayed at the hotel prior to 1998 will recognize little of the original property, which underwent total reconstruction in the mid 1990's.

What has resulted from that reconstruction is a world class resort that rivals any other in Hawaii. The resort is located at the prime location at the north end of Ka'anapali Beach near Pu'u Keka'a, the famous Black Rock that marks the end of the beach. This location gives Sheraton guests a unique sense of privacy. You never feel that you are nestled into an area with many other condominiums, hotels and resorts.

There is so much to share with you about this superb resort on Ka'anapali Beach. We'll be providing you with lots of that information in more detailed articles about our stay.

The people of Maui love to share the expression, "Maui no ka oi", (Maui is the Best). That is so hard, if not impossible, to argue with.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Let's look at a few more of our photos of the Sheraton Maui Resort and Ka'anapali Beach. You'll see exactly what we mean.

We know that we've just given you a tease of this great resort. You can be assured that we'll be doing an in-depth feature soon, with much more information and lots of photos.

Tomorrow we're headed for the historic whaling town of Lahaina and a cultural walking tour. We then have some free time in the afternoon before we get to experience one of Maui's hottest evening shows, Warren and Annabelle's Magic. Join us for Part 5 of our Hawaii Diary 2001.
