The Great Buddha - Lahaina Jodo Mission

We've packed our bags and are heading back to Hawaii for an extended visit. We'll be spending time on Oahu, Maui and we'll be taking a day trip to the island of Molokai.
We're really looking forward to spending some time with our good friend, and Oahu resident, Kathy Durham.
We have some really special day trips planned which will be the subjects of many of the articles in this special feature. On Oahu, we'll be visiting Pearl Harbor and the Battleship USS Missouri Memorial. We'll also be exploring some of the areas of the island that we have never seen before including the Leeward Shore, the Manoa Valley, the Tantalus and Round Top Drive. We'll also be checking out some of the most famous and less than famous beaches. Our time on Oahu is very limited so we'll be really busy every day.
The bulk of our time on this trip will be spent on Maui, the Valley Isle. We'll be on Maui for a ten days, so we'll have some time not only to explore the island but also to rest a bit. We expect to take trips to Hana along the Hana Highway as well as to Upcountry Maui. We'll also be making the trek to the summit of Haleakala. We also hope to spend some time to share with you some places that we really believe are little gems, the type of places that you will see and remember for the rest of your life.
We've booked a full day trip to the island of Molokai on Paragon Air. Rather than spending the full day in Kalapapa, we've elected to take what is called the Molokai topside tour for our first trip to Molokai. While day tours certainly can never show you all about an island, they are good to introduce you to an island that you might wish to return to on your next trip, for a longer stay.
We hope you enjoy our Hawaii Diary.
