We have for some time had a list of frequently asked questions available for visitors to this site. I receive quite a number of questions from readers each week which, while not necessarily frequently asked questions, are nonetheless questions that may be of interest to other readers.
With that in mind, I am beginning this permanent feature which will be updated frequently. I will chose the most interesting and often unusual questions from you, the readership and membership and attempt to answer your questions(s) as best as I can. If I don't know the answer I'll try to point you in the right direction. So, without further delay, let's get started.
Wendy B. writes: "I was reading on your site about the Waipio Naalapa Trail Rides and I'm interested on going on one. Where can I find our more information as well as prices? Is there a web site?"
I wish they did have a website, Wendy. I get a lot of inquiries about this wonderful company. You can reach them at (808) 775-0419. The company is owned and operated by Sherri Hannum and her husband Mark, who moved to Hawaii about 30 years ago. The tours last 2.5 hours and cost $75. You can also arrange full day tours. I'm glad you enjoyed our feature on the Waipio Valley.
Devon C. writes: "I am planning a trip to Maui in January 2000 and I am curious about temporary work visas. I am a Canadian citizen planning to stay in Hawaii for 1-2 months and I am curious if I can be legally employed there?
Devon, that's a difficult question. My wife and I had good friends from Canada who ran into some difficulty when they stayed in Hawaii too long on tourist visas. It's not a question that I can answer. Perhaps this link can help you out:

You should know, however, that even foreigners who can legally work in Hawaii often find it to be difficult. Unemployment remains high and most legitimate jobs go to U.S. citizens whenever possible.
