Consisting of 5 volcanic islands and 2 coral atolls, American Samoa is located about half way between Hawaii and New Zealand. Within its 76 square miles, American Samoa is home to over 45,000 people, most of whom live on the island of Tutuila and the main village of Pago Pago. American Samoa is an unincorporated territory of the United States, whereby its citizens are U.S. nationals. An estimated 65,000 Samoans have migrated to the West Coast and some 20,000 live in Hawaii.
