A personal favorite part of the Festival was the Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chefs Culinary Demonstrations and Wine Parings which were held on the third day of the festival. At each of the demonstrations one of the chefs prepared two dishes live in one of the smaller ballrooms at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Each dish was paired with wines selected especially for those dishes by one of the Festival's expert wine sommeliers, Doug Frost, Andrea Robinson or Steve Olson.

I particularly enjoyed the demonstration by Jack McDavid of Jack's Fire House in my hometown of Philadelphia. Many of you will remember Jack from his Food Network show with Bobby Flay.

On the afternoon of the Festival's final day, a series of wine seminars and wine tastings were presented. These included seminars focusing on one of the world's many fine wine regions and even a seminar on great value wines. In fact, most of the wines featured in these seminars and tastings are available for under $20 a bottle.
