Hawaii Kai Treasure

By John Fischer, About.com

A delicious blend of fruit juices, rum and green curacao served with a special gift for someone special.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 1 ounce grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce light cream
  • 1-1/2 ounces white rum
  • 1/2 ounce green curacao
  • 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup*
  • 1/2 ounce honey

Preparation:

Blend all ingredients in a blender along with a cup of crushed ice.
Turn blender to whip.
Pour over ice cubes in a 15 ounce glass.

To make this a true "Hawaii Kai Treasure", you can garnish the drink with a gardenia or cattleya flower and insert a small pearl among the petals.

*Orgeat syrup is a sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar and rose water/orange-flower water. It was, however, originally made with a barley-almond blend. It has a pronounced almond taste and is used to flavor many cocktails. Orgeat syrup can be hard to find, but can be found in some stores that sell coffee syrups/flavorings. If you cannot find it, almond syrup is a good substitute for orgeat syrup.
