The festival will take place in the Jasmine Ballroom at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21. The afternoon will feature entertainment by more than a dozen of Hawaii’s top slack key musicians, including Ledward Kaapana, Dennis Kamakahi, Makana, Walter Keale, Michael Kaawa, David Kahaipo, Paul Togioka, Jeff Peterson, Dwight Kanae, George Kuo, Cindy Combs, Kenny Emerson, and The Native Hawaiian Band.
"The festival helps us to accomplish our mission of preserving and perpetuating an indigenous guitar art form that is over 175 years old," says Producer Milton Lau. "Many consider slack key guitar the last great guitar tradition in the world. The festivals, traditionally, have always been free to the public, and we hope to continue that tradition." For the event, the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort is offering a "Slack Key Guitar Room & Car Package" of $159 per night (plus applicable taxes), based on single or double occupancy.
