Radisson Kauai Beach Resort Offers Room and Car Package

For Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival

By John Fischer, About.com

The Radisson Kauai Beach Resort will host the 12th annual "Slack Key Guitar Festival--Kauai Style" on November 21, and the hotel is offering a discounted room and car package for the event. The festival, produced by Ka Hoku Productions, will feature many of Hawaii’s top slack key artists as part of the 22-year-old statewide Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festivals. The event is free to the public.

The festival will take place in the Jasmine Ballroom at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21. The afternoon will feature entertainment by more than a dozen of Hawaii’s top slack key musicians, including Ledward Kaapana, Dennis Kamakahi, Makana, Walter Keale, Michael Kaawa, David Kahaipo, Paul Togioka, Jeff Peterson, Dwight Kanae, George Kuo, Cindy Combs, Kenny Emerson, and The Native Hawaiian Band.

"The festival helps us to accomplish our mission of preserving and perpetuating an indigenous guitar art form that is over 175 years old," says Producer Milton Lau. "Many consider slack key guitar the last great guitar tradition in the world. The festivals, traditionally, have always been free to the public, and we hope to continue that tradition." For more information on the slack key festivals on Kauai and statewide, visit the festival website.

For the event, the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort is offering a "Slack Key Guitar Room & Car Package" of $159 per night (plus applicable taxes), based on single or double occupancy. The package includes a mountain/garden view room and a compact rental car. The special package is available for stays from November 17 through December 3, 2004.

The Radisson Kauai Beach Resort is a 25-acre beachfront property centrally located on a three-mile stretch of beach on Kauai’s eastern shore. The hotel, which underwent an extensive renovation and redesign in 2000, features 340 rooms, seven suites, complete meeting and banquet facilities, three restaurants, a boutique spa and fitness center, tennis courts, and a "super pool" complex: three swimming pools set amidst waterfalls and grottoes and a fourth pool featuring a sand bottom. Guests at the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort are invited to enjoy the complimentary nightly Manager’s Cocktail Party, torchlighting ceremony and Polynesian dance show in the pool area, as well as complimentary tennis on the hotel’s four courts.
