Hawaii's Largest Fireworks Display Will Cap Off the Weekend's Activities

One of the highlights of the the annual 4th of July celebration in Hawaii is the fireworks display at Ala Moana Beach Park, sponsored by Ala Moana Center. Always a huge draw for local residents and visitors alike, this year marks the 20th year that Ala Moana Center has presented their Fourth of July Spectacular and the Center is pulling out all the stops to present its longest and largest fireworks show to date.

Located at 1450 Ala Moana Boulevard just outside of Waikiki, Ala Moana Center is the world's largest outdoor shopping center and Hawaii's premier shopping, entertainment, and dining destination with 290 stores including luxury houses, national retailers and locally owned boutiques and nearly 80 dining options.

Named among the top 25 shows in the country, this spectacular event is the only fireworks show in Hawaii to launch from three separate platforms. The free fireworks spectacular, launched from Ala Moana Beach Park, will begin on Monday, July 4 at 8:30 p.m. Open seating will be available on Ala Moana Center's Makai-Ewa parking deck on a first come, first served basis. In addition, spectators can also tune in to Krater 96, KRTR FM for a live fireworks soundtrack that accompanies the show.

Ala Moana Center's Fourth of July Spectacular is considered on of the top 25 Independence Day celebrations in the country and this year, from July 1-4, the Center is offering an entire holiday weekend celebration featuring award-winning entertainment, a Red, White & Blue giveaway, and shopping and savings for the entire family. Then on July 4, Hawaii's largest fireworks display caps off the entire weekend.

Live Entertainment

Throughout Independence Day weekend shoppers can enjoy free musical performances by some of Hawaii's hottest entertainers. From July 2-4, head to Ala Moana Centerstage from noon-4 p.m. for performances by Heart & Soul, John Cruz, Kapena, Mailani, Maunalua and Melveen Leed. On July 4 at 5 p.m. the star-studded entertainment continues on the Makai-Ewa parking deck with performances by the Royal Hawaiian Band, Makaha Sons, Hoku Zuttermeister, Nesian N.I.N.E and Henry Kapono until the fireworks show at 8:30 p.m.

Red, White & Blue Giveaway

To mark the 20th anniversary of Ala Moana Center's Fourth of July Spectacular, the Center is giving away 20 prizes per day from July 2-4. Prizes awarded each day include a trip to Las Vegas and 19 $50 Ala Moana Center gift cards. More than $7,000 in prizes will be given away throughout the weekend.

Shoppers can fill out an entry form located at Centerstage. Winners will be announced Tuesday, July 5 on Krater 96, KRTR FM's morning radio show.

20% Savings Pass

Take advantage of the weekend of savings during Independence Day weekend. Ala Moana Center is offering a 20% Savings Pass, valid throughout the entire holiday weekend from July 1-4 at over 45 merchants. Visit www.AlaMoanaCenter.com to print out a pass or head to Ala Moana Center's Customer Service Center to pick one up. Use the Savings Pass to receive 20 percent off the purchase of one regular-priced item per store, per day.

Ala Moana Center's hours of operation for the Fourth of July weekend are:

Friday, July 1 – 9:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 2 – 9:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 3 – 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Monday, July 4 – 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Makai Market closes at 8:00 p.m.)
