About 2 miles up Kuamoʻo Road (Route 580) from the Coco Palms Resort we arrived at our fourth stop which included the overlooks for Ōpaekaʻa Falls on one side of the road and the Wailua River Valley on the other.
This is one of the most scenic stops on the tour and your first opportunity to use the facilities. The bathroom facilities here are operated (or not) by the State of Hawaii. My advice is to bypass these facilities and wait till the next stop where you'll find much cleaner and less odoriferous facilities.
Guy passed out water and soft drinks as he told us of the films and TV series filmed at these two locations. Those included Lt. Rob Crusoe, USN; Donovan's Reef, Pagan Love Song, Seven Women from Hell, and most well known of all, Outbreak. Outbreak used a restored Hawaiian village on the banks of the Wailua River to portray an African village in Zaire where a deadly airborne virus was found.
You can take a tour of Kamokila Village on your own at another time for just $5.00.
