Despite the closing of the Pioneer Sugar Mill and the disappearance of sugar cane fields in West Maui, the owners of the LK&P continue to go on.
Every Thursday evening the Sugar Cane Train becomes the dinner train as guests can enjoy not only the train ride but a local-style biffet dinner and an authentic hula show featuring members of the Na Pua O Kapiolani Hula Studio. Prices for the dinner train are $59.95 for adults and $45.95 for children (3-12). Children under 3 are free.
The train is also now used for parties and special receptions. Since 1970 over five million tourists have taken the Sugar Cane Train.
There are certainly no signs that this popular West Maui tourist attraction will go the route of the sugar mill and industry from which it derives its name.
