South of the Kihei Coast, you'll find the Wailea Resort area and the Wailea Coast of south Maui. Considerably more upscale than the "middle class" areas of Kihei to the north, Wailea is the ultimate planned resort community with one condominium or hotel resort after another.
The beaches of Wailea,beginning with the south end of Keawakapu Beach, in the north, through Polo Beach, in the south, are often regarded as some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. While Wailea Beach was the 1999 selection by "Dr. Beach," Stephen P. Leatherman, as the beach in America, many feel that the two beaches directly to the north - Ulua Beach and Mokapu Beach - are the more beautiful and without question they are less crowded.
The best way to view the Wailea Coast is to walk along the Wailea Beach Walk. Beginning along the beach in front of the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort and extending south to the Kea Lani Resort, this beach walk surpasses the Kaanapali Beach Walk with its views of the Wailea beaches and coastline and the luxurious resorts of Wailea.
