By , About.com Guide

The island of Oahu has plenty of fun filled activities that everyone can enjoy. While visiting Oahu you can choose from a wide variety of outdoor or indoor activities or explore the Hawaiian culture.
  • Waikiki Nei, an innovative theatrical production, will open at the Royal Hawaiian Center on July 22. Waikiki Nei will use evocative action and visual imagery to create a stunning journey through the evolution of Waikiki. The 80-minute show will feature dancers, live musicians, acrobats, and actors, as well as lighting, sound, stage machinery, and automation never before used in Hawaii. Following each night's show, the Waikiki Nei Theatre will transform into Level 4, a contemporary nightclub and ultralounge featuring a 4,500 square-foot dance floor, renowned DJs, aerial acts, model servers, interactive tables, and a 7,000 square-foot lanai with an outdoor bar and cabanas.

  • On June 28, the Polynesian Cultural Center unveiled Halau Wa'a O Iosepa, a 57-foot all-wood, double-hulled Hawaiian voyaging canoe that is housed in PCC's new $2.65 million facility, Halau Wa'a, or canoe house of learning. Educational displays, exhibits and cultural presentations show how today's families are much like the Polynesian voyagers of old, while a guided walking tour around the Iosepa and short video educates visitors on the purpose, construction and symbolism of the canoe.

  • CW's on Lewers, an entertainment venue featuring daily drink specials, exclusive cocktails, live entertainment, an expansive dance floor, and flat screen televisions to watch the latest sporting events, recently opened at the Wyndham Vacation Ownership – Waikiki Beach Walk. Guests are welcome to bring their own snacks to enjoy while relaxing on one of CW's on Lewers plush leather couches. Offering something for everyone, CW's on Lewers is open from 11 a.m.-4 a.m. daily.

  • The North Shore Surf Girls Surf School, located on the North and South Shores of Oahu, offers surf lessons to men, women and children with surf experience ranging from beginner-level to experienced surfer. All of the school's instructors are females who range from former professional surfers to Baywatch stunt doubles and surfers featured in the surfer girl movie Blue Crush.

  • The Honolulu Symphony announced its concert line-up for the Halekulani MasterWorks 2008-2009 season, led by principal conductor Andreas Delfs and featuring an array of concerts starring gifted artists from Hawaii and around the world. The 2008-2009 season highlights musicians of the orchestra as they are joined by international superstars, such as guitarist Sharon Isbin, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, violinists Cho-Liang "Jimmy" Lin and Giora Schmidt, and soprano Sumi Jo.

  • Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa is enhancing its nightly entertainment lineup of live, authentic Hawaiian music with the addition of The Keawe Ohana & Friends. Often featuring the unforgettable melodic falsetto of Pomaika'i Lyman Keawe, granddaughter of the late Genoa Keawe, The Keawe Ohana & Friends perform on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the resort's open-air Moana Terrace, located on the third floor of the Kealohilani Tower.

  • Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park has opened two new attractions: the Tornado and Dive'n'Movies. Resembling a giant household funnel, the Tornado is the park's largest ride to date. Riders begin their wild journey from the 50-foot high platform before being blasted down a 130-foot long tunnel into the middle of a storm. At Dive'n'Movies, guests can catch the latest movies while floating on a tube in the Giant Wave Pool or lounging on a deck chair. Dive'n'Movies will run every Friday night from 7:30-11 p.m. through August 29 in conjunction with the park's summer pau hana festivities.

  • In collaboration with the Wild Dolphin Foundation, Wild Side Specialty Tours' Ocean Trekker Expeditions will offer an enriching weeklong journey of discovery through the ocean world of Oahu beginning in October 2008. The expedition will offer visitors the chance to see dolphins, whales and other marine life up close and learn about the real world of marine biology while helping with conservation efforts of marine species – some highly endangered, others found only in Hawaii – at the same time.

  • Star of Honolulu Cruises & Events offers a special opportunity to observe wild dolphins in their natural habitat aboard the brand new Hoku Nai'a vessel departing from Wai'anae Boat Harbor. A crew of certified naturalists, keiki (children's) program, create-your-own gourmet burger, and Dolphin Guarantee are all included.

  • Dole Plantation is attempting to set a new record for the world's largest maze from the Guinness Book of World Records. An expanded version of the existing Pineapple Garden Maze now occupies an area of more than two acres. It is made up of 14,000 colorful plants including hibiscus, heliconia, croton, panax, and pineapple. The center of the maze is in the shape of a huge pineapple, which is made up of croton and has a crown of agapanthus. With the expansion, guests can now search for eight secret stations.
