O'ahu is a shopping mecca with something for everyone. Home to hundreds of fashionable designer stores as well as markets that carry locally made crafts, visitors are sure to love the shopping experience no matter where they go.
Ala Moana Center is adding three more first-to-Hawai'i stores to its brand-new retail wing. Popular national clothing retailer Express will open this winter, leather goods designer Brontibay Paris is slated to open in December 2008, and Brighton Collectibles, known for its personalized accessories, is scheduled to open in October 2008. The opening of these stores is an exciting addition to the center's recent 300,000 square-foot retail expansion, which consists of more than 20 new stores and Hawai'i's first full-line Nordstrom department store.
Ala Moana Center is counting down to its second annual signature shopping event, "Shop A L'ea - Seven Blissful Days of Shopping Euphoria." The event will take place March 23-29, 2009 and feature in-store promotions, exclusive merchant products, a center-wide gift-with-purchase, and more.
Simply Wood Studios recently opened on Kapahulu Avenue on the outskirts of Waikiki. The all-wood art gallery and showroom features original, handcrafted wood sculptures, furniture, boxes, bowls, pens, and other products from local woodworkers.
Waikiki Beach Walk recently unveiled several new stores, including Red Mango, a new-to-Hawaii yogurt franchise store, Planet U2, a trendy shop for family gifts and apparel, and a convenient UPS Store. The center also announced new plans for a Cheeseburger Beachwalk restaurant owned by Cheeseburger Restaurants.
Ward Centers recently welcomed several locally owned stores to its family of more than 125 shops and restaurants. In the summer, Up & Riding, which offers children's surf apparel and accessories, and Morgan Beret Fine Lingerie and Bed Linen opened in Ward Centre. Kanpai Bar & Grill, which serves local favorite dishes and offers nightly drink specials, also opened in September.
