Makaha Valley was once home to the Makaha Valley Ranch and a favorite place for Hawaii's royalty. Today, the valley is home to the Makaha Resort & Golf Club which has 173 guest rooms, including 20 suites and an 18-hole, 7,077-yard, par 72 championship course designed by William F. Bell, the 586-unit Makaha Valley Towers and 572-unit Makaha Valley Plantation, both residential condominium complexes, as well as numerous private homes.
Also in the valley is the restored Kane'aki Heiau. Built over 300 years ago, the temple was dedicated to Lono, the Hawaiian god of harvest and fertility. The heiau is open to the public on Tuesdays through Sundays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
