My May 2007 sail on the Alaka'i was quite a different experience.
Since we sailed, or rather motored, on the Alaka'i we were able to move quickly from the Waianae Boat Harbor several miles off shore, much further than would have been possible on the Island Spirit catamaran.
One of the personal delights for me on this sail was that I got to sit high up on the flybridge with Tori. The views from this location, high above the water are amazing both of the coastline but of the water as well.
From this vantage point you are able to see not only in the distance but directly down into the water on either side of the boat. This was especially exciting when we encountered any type of marine life.
