What's New With Oahu's Restaurants, Cuisine and Nightlife for the Spring of 2006

By John Fischer, About.com

Oahu not only offers natural tranquility and spectacular ocean views, but exciting dining and nightlife experiences as well.

  • Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks, a restaurant company based in Southern-California, has opened its first restaurant in Hawaii at Ala Moana Center. With its tropical atmosphere, affordable hamburgers, tacos and salads, it is a popular addition.

  • On the second and fourth Saturday of every month, Longhi’s Restaurant in Ala Moana Center turns into "Chemistry." The new after-hours hot spot has an open air dance floor, live hip-hop-house music, dancers, and drink specials.

  • The world's master of eclectic Japanese cuisine, Chef Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa, will open Nobu Waikiki in the Waikiki Parc Hotel. The restaurant will begin renovation in June and is expected to open in December 2006.

  • Waikiki Beach Walk, Outrigger's new $460 million redevelopment that is transforming nearly eight acres in the heart of Waikiki, has recently announced additional restaurants that will be opening by the end of the year: Roy's Waikiki, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Yard House, Holokai Grill and Kai Waikiki.
