What's New With Oahu's Restaurants for the Late Summer and Fall of 2007

Oahu is known for having a very diverse culture, which is exhibited by the islands' assortments of foods. With wonderful choices and an array of cuisine options, there's sure to be a restaurant for everyone.
  • Aaron's, located atop the Ala Moana Hotel on the 36th floor, has opened an upscale lounge every Friday and Saturday night from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m.

    The unique venue offers an elite, sophisticated nightlife experience with unparalleled design, service and entertainment.

  • Hosted by Hawaiian music radio station KINE, Aloha Friday Luncheons recently moved to the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach's Shore Bird Restaurant and Beach Bar, where patrons can enjoy open-air views of legendary Waikiki Beach, Hawaiian food, and live entertainment by many of Hawaii's hottest contemporary musicians.

    Aloha Friday Luncheons at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach are scheduled for August 10, September 14, November 9, and December 7, 2007.

  • Bali by the Sea, the award-winning culinary landmark at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa, now offers extraordinary chef tasting menus designed exclusively by Chef Adam Hightower sure to please gourmands.

    Offered in five- and seven-course menus, wine pairings are also available for an extra cost.

  • Gourmet Events & Gourmet Cooking Hawaii and The Wine Stop are collaborating to present an ongoing series of wine dinners. The dinners are designed pairing exceptional wines with gourmet cuisine for a tasty, stylish experience.

  • Executive chef Wayne Hirabayashi, of Hoku's, at The Kahala hotel, creates a unique monthly "focus" menu featuring a chosen ingredient used throughout the menu and is only available to diners for four days each month.

    The focus menu concept began in March 2007, and continues throughout the remainder of the year with promises of exciting flavors and exceptional dining. August will focus on succulent lobster, and September features all things Napa.

    Leading into cooler weather, October's autumn harvest offers a bounty of hearty and healthy root vegetables. November will pair all types of pumpkins with delicious Pinot Noir and December will feature the flavors of the holiday season.

  • Hukilau Sports Bar & Grill has opened in downtown Honolulu's Executive Centre. The new restaurant features local Hawaiian food blended with California cuisine, in a sports-themed setting focused on Hawaii's world-class athletes.

    Hukilau will also showcase live Hawaiian music with notable local entertainment.

  • One of Oahu's hottest new restaurants, Nobu Waikiki, opened with regal fan fare in May 2007. The 7,500 square-foot restaurant features a full service sushi bar, cocktail bar, main dining room, and private dining areas for special events.

    Serving dinner from 5:30 to 11 p.m., and with the Bar Lounge open from 5 p.m. to midnight, this is undoubtedly one of the trendiest scenes in town.

  • Senator Frog's Restaurant & Bar will open its doors late summer 2007. Located on the second level of Building A, the restaurant's private elevator will take guests from Kalakaua Avenue directly into the restaurant where the excitement awaits.

    By day, the restaurant will provide a dining experience suitable for families and those wanting to catch the latest game. By night, the restaurant's energetic atmosphere and interactive entertainment will be open for party goers until 4 a.m.

  • Star of Honolulu's Five Star Sunset Dining & Jazz Cruise is the ultimate in romance and luxury, with an exclusive Captain's Welcome Reception, seven-course French style dinner served white-gloved, super premium drinks, and live jazz from Oahu's top artists.

    Executive Chef Richard Franco unveils an all-new menu with live Maine lobster and prime tenderloin of beef as main entrées and incorporating the freshest and finest ingredients of the season.

  • Uncle's Fish Market and Grill, located on Nimitz Highway at Pier 38 near the Honolulu Fish Auction, opened in late June. Owner Bruce Johnson, who founded Fresh Island Fish in 1977, pays homage to all the fishermen who have influenced him over the years by serving some of the freshest, most delicious fish on Oahu in a setting decorated by old-school fishing memorabilia.
