- Tanaka of Tokyo West Japanese Seafood and Steak House recently opened at Ala Moana Center's Ho'okipa Terrace. The popular restaurant features top notch ingredients skillfully prepared and presented with great flair by master teppan-yaki chefs at tabletop grills. Tanaka of Tokyo West joins sister restaurants Tanaka of Tokyo East and Tanaka of Tokyo Central, both located in Waikiki.
- Uncle's Fish Market & Grill, an establishment run by fish wholesaler, Fresh Island Fish, recently began serving dinner in addition to lunch. Featuring live entertainment by Ernie Cruz, Jr., the restaurant is also a frequent haunt for many local musicians who come to play kanakapila style. Featured menu items include whatever the boats bring in that day but always includes ahi, mahi mahi and never-frozen fish.
- Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa has introduced seven "New Looks" from the sushi bar. Sansei's innovative chefs created the new dishes, which use fresh fish and local ingredients in new combinations and new techniques while preserving the sushi tradition.
- Recently appointed chef Francois Bougard offers his Five-Course Tasting Menu at Bali by the Sea, the award-winning restaurant at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa. The culinary journey begins with a chef's surprise amuse, Hawaiian ahi poke with Maui onions, Hawaii Island goat cheese and escargot strudel, moi on a bed of creamy potato puree, and a dessert of chocolate lava flow. The menu is $70 per person, and for an additional $35 per person, the dishes can be paired with two-ounce pours of wines from Beaulieu and Robert Mondavi vineyards. The restaurant was recently awarded four diamonds by AAA.
