Gourmet Events Hawai'i is offering monthly cooking classes at Beachhouse at the Moana with the restaurant's Culinary Institute of America-trained chef, Rodney Uyehara. Individuals, friends or families can learn to cook some of Chef Rodney's most popular dishes, such as salmon tartare; stuffed organic chicken breast with prosciutto, brie, spinach, and mushrooms with champagne and caviar cream sauce; or dark rum crème brulee. Classes are $99 per person and include personal instruction with Chef Rodney, a three course meal and apron. Expert wine pairings are an additional $19 per person.
Hula Grill Waikiki – located oceanfront on the second floor of Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach – recently launched "Sunset Dinners By the Beach" a new menu available for $24.75 from 5-6 p.m. in the main dining room. The menu changes quarterly and always features locally grown and produced ingredients.
Ichiriki Loft opened in August above popular Japanese restaurant, Ichiriki. Ichiriki Loft is an intimate, Asian-influenced lounge and bar, offering everything from pau hana drinks to delicious dinners, late-night pupu, cocktails, and much more. Specialty drinks include Purple Rain, made with Grey Goose and freshly squeezed grape juice, the Shiso Mojito, a shochu-based mojito with muddled fresh shiso, and the Midnight Tea, an Asian tea mixed with lychee liqueur and a twist of lemon.
ResortQuest Pacific Monarch welcomes Jinroku, a Japanese restaurant specializing in teppanyaki and okonomiyaki dishes. The restaurant offers affordable dining in a cozy, yet elegant atmosphere. Jinroku in Waikiki is the restaurant's first location outside of Japan.
RumFire at the Sheraton Waikiki introduces new tapas to its sizzling menu. Chef Colin Hazama's new and innovative offerings include jasmine smoked ahi pastrami with roasted alii mushrooms, baby tatsoi, crispy fried prosciutto, and lehua honey balsamic reduction, or his shichimi dusted glazed prawns with pickled li hing mango relish, pink dragon fruit, and pomegranate peppercorn syrup.
Popular local hangout, The Shack, recently launched a new location in Waikiki at the Waikiki Trade Center on Kuhio Avenue. The Shack Waikiki is The Shack's largest location and includes a dance floor, stage for live music, billiards, and arcade games. The Shack Waikiki offers daily food and drink specials.
