I've just returned from a hectic, but information filled, 10 days on Oahu. While I'll be writing in detail about all of what I'm sharing today, here are some of the new and exciting things I experienced first-hand.
Waikiki Beach Walk™
First off about Waikiki Beach Walk™, all I can say is wow! It's better than I could have imagined and it's not even finished yet. The shopping and dining area on Lewers Street is simply fantastic.
The entire project is beautifully landscaped and architecturally attractive. It's become the place to be for great shopping and dining. You wouldn't believe the crowds every evening waiting for a seat at the Yard House and Roy's or for an after dinner treat at Mondo Gelato.
I really loved some of the new stores but none more than Mana Hawai`i where five local businesses share one space to offer top selections of authentic art and crafts produced in Hawaii including traditional musical instruments, hula implements, novels, history books, woodwork, muu muu, ceramics, gourmet condiments and snacks. The store hosts local artists and cultural practitioners in on-site demonstrations including ukulele classes, lomi lomi massage, and lauhala weaving.
For great selections of aloha wear be sure to check out Crazy Shirts, Hawaiian Moon and Malibu Shirts.
Crazy Shirts is the place to buy high quality t-shirts in Hawaii. Forget those cheap four for $20 sales. Get t-shirts that won't shrink or fade with repeated washings.
Hawaiian Moon features stylish original island wear for men, women, and children with excellent quality Hawaiian shirts, casual and special occasion dresses, outfits for toddlers, handbags, and island treasures.
Malibu Shirts offers a taste of Hawaiian culture with an amazing surfboard collection, classic licensed designs, entertaining surf videos, and music.
