I also had a chance to spend four nights at the newly renovated Aqua Equus at 1696 Ala Moana Boulevard across from the Hawaii Prince Hotel on the Ewa side of Waikiki.

Formerly known as the Hawaii Polo Inn, the hotel has recently undergone the first stage of a major multi-million dollar renovation. The newly renovated and upgraded guest rooms offer a fresh, Ralph Lauren meets upcountry Hawaii / paniolo look and feel.

The 68-room hotel offers a variety of complimentary amenities including continental breakfast, in-room high-speed internet and WiFi, local and toll-free phone calls, coffee maker, mini-refrigerator, daily local newspaper and more.

If you're looking for a moderately priced place to stay with great access to downtown, the H1, or the Ala Moana Center, the Aqua Equus is well worth considering. Again, we'll have much more in our upcoming full review.

While you're there, be sure to take advantage of the horseback rides offered at the Hawaii Polo Club & School at at Mokuleia on Oahu's North Shore. For a very reasonable amount you can ride on one of the highly trained and wonderfully responsive polo horses on a 90 minute ride along the ocean.
