The Ala Moana Center has long been known as Hawaii’s premier shopping location and that distinction is only getting stronger as new stores are being added which will make it one of the largest shopping malls in the world. It's already the world’s largest outdoor shopping center.
The big news in my mind, however, is that the Center's Ho'okipa Terrace has quickly become the dining and nightlife center of Honolulu and Waikiki.
In the course of a week, I took two good friends out for a great Italian dinner at Romano’s Macaroni Grill and then moved over to Jackie’s Kitchen for after dinner pupus, drinks and their weekly Lost viewing party.
Just a few nights later I had dinner at the just opened Tsukiji Fish Market and Restaurant (a Japanese-style buffet, sushi and yakitori bar) and then moved over to Pearl to party for a couple of hours in Honolulu's hottest new after-hours ultralounge.
In the center of all of these, and other, restaurants and clubs you'll find the Mai Tai Bar which is without question one of the most popular spots for locals to gather after-work and visitors to relax after a busy day on Oahu.
