In another very exciting development James Beard Award-winning chef George Mavrothalassitis has opening a new restaurant, Cassis by Chef Mavro, at the location in downtown Honolulu which was formerly the Palomino Restaurant at Harbor Court.
Chef Mavro has long been famous for his superb, albeit expensive, 68-seat signature restaurant at 1969 South King Street which was named by Fodor's as one of the top ten restaurants in the world. Now, however, you don't have to dig deep into your bank account to enjoy Chef Mavro's superb Hawaiian regional French cuisine.
Cassis by Chef Mavro is a more casual destination for lunch, cocktails and dinner. The restaurant, which opened in April, is a French bistro with an Island flair and menu items that include Tako Green Papaya Salad, Steak Curried Fries and Li Hing Mui Tarte Tatin.
The restaurant is named after the fishing village in France where Mavrothalassitis opened his first restaurant in 1978.
