The JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina is one of Oahu's most complete resort destinations, renowned for its unspoiled white-sand beaches, tranquil lagoons, the Ihilani Spa, tennis facilities, and a private marina.

The award-winning Ko Olina Golf Club, a championship 18-hole golf course, is located near the resort. The JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa is less than a half hour drive from the Honolulu International Airport and about one hour from Waikiki.

Spa Description:

The Ihilani Spa is a full service destination spa with hydrotherapies such as Thalasso treatments with seawater as well as extensive fitness and relaxation programs. Guests can experience several signature Hawaiian and Polynesian body treatments from the spa's expert staff, who have been trained in the traditional methods passed down from generation to generation.

The 35,000-square-foot (20,917 interior and 14,200 exterior square feet) spa is the perfect complement to the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort.

Therapeutic lomi lomi massage using techniques passed down through the ages, a tropical scrub that awakens the whole body with Hawaiian sea salt, and a full-body skin treatment utilizing the stimulating properties of natural ginger are just a few of the services offered.

Guests can rejuvenate themselves in hydro treatments such as Swiss Showers, Grand Jets, Vichy Showers and Roman Pools.

In addition to Ihilani's pampering body treatments, customized individual and group fitness, and stress reduction programs are planned to suit every need and expectation of spa guests.

Hip on Hula:

Among the Hawaiian treatments offered by Ihilani Spa is a one-on-one personal training program with a highly skilled hula teacher. The program, called "Hip on Hula," is an hour-long session where the guest is coached in basic hula movements, which result in an intensive workout for the hips and legs.

Shanna Scalera, who has danced the hula for many years with Paradise Cove’s Ke Kai 0 Kahiki halau (hula "family"), says that the hula class has become very popular this year. "More people are interested in connecting to Hawaiian culture in a meaningful way," she said.

Scalera ensures that this interest is rewarded by including a lesson on the meaning of hula and the legend of its introduction to Hawaii. She also uses traditional Hawaiian music during the class and offers the compact disc to guests who want to take the music home as a reminder of the experience.

Those who have taken the class vouch for the intense use of the leg muscles. The class begins with learning basic movements, such as "duck squats" and "umies" - bending motions and rotation of the stomach, requiring strength and control.

"Hip on Hula" is offered for $55.

Thalasso Treatment with Color Light Therapy:

The colors of the rainbow have touched down upon the Ihilani Spa and the pot of gold for guests is the spa's new Thalasso Treatment with Color Light Therapy.

Color light therapy, the latest scientific rediscovery of ancient healing wisdom, uses color to change or maintain vibrations of the body. Each color of the spectrum has its own specific frequency that corresponds to one of the body's seven Chakras - the seven energy centers in man that govern our state-of-mind, energy level arid overall health. For instance, the color red invokes power, audacity and energy. It fights fatigue, fear and anxiety by replenishing vitality and rebuilding self-confidence.

By familiarizing themselves with the specific healing properties associated with each of the seven colors, guests can actively, sensually and joyfully advance on the path to the ideal state of balance and wellness they desire.

With the Ihilani Spa's Thalasso Treatment with Color Light Therapy, the healing powers of color and water are merged to rejuvenate guests. Newly replaced thalasso treatment baths in the men and women's areas provide guests with underwater massages from a series of hydro and air jets. These jets automatically cycle through six different areas of the body, from feet to shoulders. The strength of the jets may also be adjusted to fit each individual's needs.

Ocean water, which is pumped directly from the resort's lagoons and softens skin with all its essential minerals, is accentuated with aromatherapy oils that boost the healing power of the color rays. Guests may choose from detoxification, serenity, vital energy and anti-stress oils.

Throughout the thalasso treatment, color is beamed out from underwater and directed toward the guest. Depending on the guest's preference, one color may be shown throughout, or a number of colors may be rotated.

The 25-minute Thalasso Treatment with Color Light Therapy is $60, exclusive of tax and gratuity. The 25-minute Deluxe Thalasso Therapy with Color and Aqua Essences is $70, exclusive of tax and gratuity.
