What's New With Oahu's Hotels and Resorts for the Fall of 2006
Oahu strives to distinguish Itself from other major tourist destinations

  • The 343-room Ilikai will undergo renovations beginning in 2007. The hotel's renovation plans include adding a full-service spa and enhancing the porte-cochere and lobby areas. The Ilikai's new look will be bold and modern, accented with a timeless touch of select sophisticated furnishings.

    The hotel is also working closely with the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa to ensure renovation plans complement Hilton's current expansion project to include the exterior of the building and landscaping.

  • Outrigger Enterprises Group has partnered with WestCoast Entertainment to bring the premier engagement of the blockbuster, highly acclaimed The Lion King to Honolulu. The multiple-week limited engagement begins September 15 and will run through October 28 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

    As part of Outrigger's sponsorship of The Lion King, the company is offering exclusive hotel and ticket packages for the entire Honolulu engagement, allowing guests the opportunity to secure premium seats prior to individual tickets going on sale in April.

  • The Ocean Villas at Turtle Bay Resort, a private gated community with units overlooking the pristine waters of Kuilima Cove, provides an exclusive luxury vacation experience on Oahu's legendary North Shore.

    Guests can indulge in preferred resort services, such as arranging for a chef to cook meals during their stay or stocking the refrigerator prior to arrival. With three bedrooms and two full baths, the Ocean Villas at Turtle Bay Resort offer up to 1,684 total square feet and sleep up to eight people. Rates start at $1,800 per night (minimum five-night stay).

  • Visitors will be able to experience the first fruits of Outrigger Reef on the Beach's $100 million makeover in May 2007 when the new Ocean Tower is unveiled, including superbly appointed and significantly enlarged oceanfront suites.

    The seaside property will be a haven of physical comfort and cultural enrichment, encompassing 631 remodeled guest rooms and an array of new amenities such as whirlpool baths in one-bedroom oceanfront suites, new VIP pool service, complimentary wireless Internet access, long-distance domestic phone calls, and a distinctive new level of attention and service called Na Mea Hookipa.

    The hotel will also house such cultural treasures as a beautifully restored century-old koa wood canoe, great literary works from the Bishop Museum, and extraordinary art by noted Hawaii historian Herb Kane.

  • ResortQuest Hawaii Waikiki Beach Hotel recently completed a $16 million renovation combining contemporary twists into the hotel's existing sense of tiki-culture and Hawaiian design. Guestroom makeovers include colorful Polynesian-lifestyle wall illustrations by celebrated Hawaii artist, Arman Tateos Manookian.

    The hotel has also introduced a variety of new complimentary guest services offered on the pool deck, including 30-minute morning hula lessons and daily afternoon Hawaiian-style massage treatments.

  • The Royal Hawaiian now offers a taste of the traditions, arts and culture of the islands with its new activity program. Activities include a historic tour of the hotel and surrounding area, a botanical tour, lessons in hula dancing, lei making, ukulele, and even a storytelling session of Hawaiian legends. All activities are complimentary for hotel guests with a nominal charge for non-guests.

  • Oahu's "First Lady of Waikiki," the legendary Sheraton Moana Surfrider will become a Westin in June 2007. An enhanced service culture and physical improvements are planned for this elegant Victorian seaside resort. The Moana, the first resort on Waikiki Beach, will encompass the Westin brand value of renewal and its contemporary sensory experience amenities such as the Heavenly Bed® and Heavenly Bath®, a signature dining facility, a new Westin Heavenly Spa®, and Westin Kids Club.

  • All rooms at the Sheraton Waikiki will boast a modern and fresh look, while still capturing the tropical feeling of the Islands through the use of color, texture, light and space. Each spacious guest room will include a LCD flat screen TV, a mobile desk area with multiple electrical outlets and data port, high-speed internet access, an in-room refrigerator, self-controlled digital air conditioning unit, and an electronic safe for valuables that is large enough to hold a laptop computer.

    After a full day spent with family and friends, drift to sleep between the sheets of the soft and inviting Sheraton Sweet SleeperSM bed. Ocean view rooms have plantation-style foldable panels separating the bathroom from the bedroom area. When opened, the portal offers unobstructed views from the bathtub to the ocean.

    All 1,481 standard guest rooms are scheduled for completion in spring 2007. Suite upgrades will follow in fall 2007.

  • The Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk opened November 1, 2006, at 277 Lewers Street in the former OHANA Reef Towers hotel and has undergone a comprehensive $54 million renovation. Located in the midst of the brand new retail/entertainment complex at Waikiki Beach Walk, the Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk is situated in the heart of Waikiki's newest destination district.

    The property has 195 units, including 95 one-bedroom units, 83 two-bedroom units and 17 two-, three- and four-bedroom luxuriously appointed Presidential suites. All are condominium-style suites and are fully equipped with a kitchen, washer/dryer, living and dining areas, whirlpool baths, audio/video entertainment systems and more. The Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk is open to all members of its vacation ownership program.
