The Hawaiian island of Oahu has fabulous hotels and resorts for people of all ages and budgets. Oahu's hotels are constantly updating and adding new activities and packages. Everything is designed to make a trip to Oahu unforgettable. Let's check out the Oahu hotels and resorts news for the summer and fall of 2008
  • From September 2 to December 18, Halekulani will begin an extensive renovation of its public area. Highlights include porte cochere improvements, lobby enhancements, hallway carpet replacements, new guestroom credenzas, installation of flat panel LCD televisions, renovation of select meeting rooms, and new furniture in the public areas. The hotel will also upgrade its Hospitality Suite, business center and fitness room, and unveil a new Halekulani Signature Suite.

  • The 81-room Aqua Coconut Waikiki opened on June 1 after completing a $2.6 million renovation. The retro-inspired guest rooms have a mini-refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, safe, 40" or 42" LCD HD TV, and wireless Internet. In addition, the lobby, breakfast area and front office now sport a fresh, hip look. Aqua Coconut Waikiki also features an intimate pool with a wraparound deck and fitness room.

  • Hawaii-based hotel management company, Aqua Hotels & Resorts, took over management of the Park Shore Waikiki Hotel on July 1. The Park Shore Waikiki Hotel is the 13th property in Aqua's portfolio, and plans for the property include a multi-million dollar renovation expected to begin in April 2009. As part of its extensive renovation, the property hopes to apply environmentally sustainable practices throughout the entire process and achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

  • The Wyland Waikiki Hotel recently welcomed a new restaurant and spa to its 403-room property. Spada Bar and Restaurant features Northern Italian-inspired cuisine by Executive Chef Tony Domingue and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel's new day spa, Spa Pure, offers massage services and in-room and poolside treatments, including its exclusive Gaban Yaku stone table treatment and signature Ocean Massage.

  • The Waikiki Parc Hotel offers guests the opportunity to zip around Oahu in a Lotus Elise, one of the world's lightest and most efficient sports cars. The Lotus Experience, exclusively available at the Parc, now features bilingual English/Japanese GPS guides. Also offered as part of the Lotus Experience are chilled beverages, custom music selections and complimentary cell phone with programmed speed dial to the Waikiki Parc Hotel front desk.

  • The Waikiki Parc Hotel has uncorked an exclusive collection of "personality wines," boasting bold names, vibrant and contemporary packaging and playful descriptions; all while offering highly popular and savory varietals. Some of the wines included in the Parc Chic Wines collection are "Moist" Chardonnay for the "alluring and sensual" wine enthusiast and "Lush" Zinfandel for the "sinful and obsessive" consumer.

  • Outrigger Reef on the Beach recently unveiled two special museum exhibits featuring Pacific island cultural arts and Hawaiian missionary artifacts. "'Art' in the Pacific Islands" is a collection of traditional artifacts from Papua New Guinea, the Marshall Islands, Fiji, Tonga, and Vanuatu. The artifacts include dramatic masks, a clothing mat, traditional Fijian wedding dress, ceremonial bowls, and clubs. The missionary exhibit, assembled by the Mission Houses Museum, displays furniture and household items from the 1800s and a traditional missionary room including furniture, a shell collection, artwork, and a poi supper table setting.

  • Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach's new Hawaiian Memories Package lets guests choose what they'd like to include in their Hawaiian vacation. In addition to three nights accommodations and daily breakfast for two, guests can choose an Outrigger Catamaran ride for two; half-hour photo session with a CD of images and one 5"x7" keepsake photo; or a canoe surf ride for two with a CD of images.

  • To commemorate its starring role in the hit movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Turtle Bay Resort is offering a Forgetting Sarah Marshall package for couples. The package includes a four-night stay in a luxury oceanfront beach cottage, an authentic Hawaiian lu'au, dinner for two at Ola, and a choice between surf lessons or a round of golf. This offer is valid through December 23, 2008.
