- In celebration of its 25th anniversary this fall, the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower, a condominium resort, is conducting improvements to its suites. As part of the renovations, the suites will receive upgraded kitchens, new bedding and new paint.
- On June 1, The Wyland Waikiki officially opened as Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach, the first Courtyard property on Oahu. The hotel is operating under a franchise agreement with Lodging Capital Partners LLC, owner of the property, and will be managed by Outrigger Hotels and Resorts. The 400-room property features two swimming pools, Spa Pure day spa, a 24-hour fitness facility, entertainment room, business center, small boardroom, and dining at Spada Restaurant & Bar and Kimobean Hawaiian Coffee Company.
- Halekulani has partnered with Steinway Lyngdorf to install a Model M Architectural Speaker System in the plush Orchid Suite. The Model M Architectural speakers are flexible, dynamic speakers that delivery extraordinary sound in combination with Steinway Lyngdorf's proprietary fully digital amplification and advanced multi-channel RoomPerfect™ 3-D room adaptation technology. The new home theater system features 24 karat gold accents and were hand finished with black piano lacquer.
- The Grand Waikikian by Hilton Grand Vacations Club, recently celebrated the completion of its new $7 million Paradise Pool. The 5,000-square-foot family activity pool boasts the longest slide in Waikiki and overlooks the resort's landmark Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. It is comprised of a two-tiered heated, freshwater swimming pool bordered by lava rock formations, meandering streams and bridges, and lush, tropical landscaping. The pool features four slides including a 77-foot lava tube slide, three waterfalls and two heated spas. The freeform design of the pool's perimeter offers poolside loungers privacy while sunbathing, reading or napping.
- The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort received a multimillion-dollar transformation, including a redesign of the reception area and 529 guestrooms to incorporate 21st-century upgrades with classic design elements. The resort features new restaurants, Azure and Surf Lanai, that highlight contemporary Hawaiian cuisine. The Royal Hawaiian's Abhasa Waikiki Spa also received a refresh as a result of the property-wide enhancements.
- The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort recently introduced Aha Aina, a Royal Celebration, an oceanfront dinner and show. Aha Aina is held every Monday night on the Ocean Lawn and features interactive, traditional Hawaiian activities, a dinner feast, songs, and hula performances.
- Trump International Hotel & Tower – Waikiki Beach Walk, located on the corner of Kalia Road and Saratoga Road, is expected to open in late 2009. The building is a 350-foot tower with 469 luxury hotel-condominium units and four stories of valet parking (230 stalls).
- Castle Resorts & Hotels began managing the Waikiki Grand Hotel on April 1. Located across from Waikiki Beach, the hotel offers moderately priced guestrooms and studios with kitchenettes. Teddy's Bigger Burger and the popular Hula's Bar and Lei Stand are located on the bottom floor of the hotel.
