Princess Ka’iulani Birthday Celebration
October 16, 2007

Outrigger Reef on the Beach and Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Victoria Kaiulani Kalaninuiahilapalapa Kawekiui Lunalilo was third in line to the Hawaiian throne, and her birth in 1875 was celebrated with gun salutes and tolling bells. Although she was named heir to the throne, she never assumed it due to the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893.

Much to the sorrow of her people, the young princess met with an untimely death at the age of just 23 after falling ill with a lingering cold.

Guests are welcome to join Outrigger as it pays a moving floral tribute to the princess at her statue located across from the OHANA East Hotel in Waikiki.
