We have asked our friend Nancy Daniels to give us a write-up on the exciting news that's happening this spring and summer with Outrigger and OHANA Hotels on Oahu. The big news, of course, is that the Waikiki Beach Walk is officially open for business. After several years of planning, demolition and construction, much of the work is complete. Additional properties and businesses are still forthcoming. I'll be on Oahu in May and will give you a full report on all of these exciting developments in this formerly run down area of Waikiki.

Waikiki Beach Walk News

Waikiki Beach Walk is open for business. It is Waikiki's brand new entertainment district where visitors can stay, play, shop and dine. It is home to the all-new, all-suite Embassy Suites®-Waikiki Beach Walk™, the newly opened Wyndham Vacation Ownership-Waikiki Beach Walk, the oceanfront Outrigger Reef on the Beach, the OHANA Islander Waikiki and the planned Trump International Hotel & Tower-Waikiki Beach Walk.

An open-air plaza is surrounded by a collection of shops and boutiques, as well as popular restaurants like Roy’s Waikiki, Yard House, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Holokai Grill and Giovanni Pastrami. Entertainment is offered nightly, with cultural activities available free of charge at Mana Hawaii.

Waikiki Beach Walk: The Center of Waikiki’s Newest Dining Destination

As the renaissance of Waikiki begins, Waikiki Beach Walk is poised to become the center of a new Waikiki dining district.

New restaurants are opening at the neighboring Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, as well as a new location of the renowned sushi chef Nobu’s restaurant opening at the nearby Waikiki Parc Hotel. These new restaurants are joining the ranks of already great dining at the Halekulani, which is famed for La Mer and Orchids, and the Outrigger Reef’s very popular Shore Bird and Ocean House restaurants.

Waikiki Beach Walk itself offers numerous new eateries, including Roy's Waikiki, Yard House, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Holokai Grill, Giovanni Pastrami, Kaiwa Japanese restaurant, Taormina Sicilian Cuisine and C.J.'s Bar & Grill. Other new restaurants are scheduled to open over the next few years, including a signature restaurant at the Outrigger Reef, an exclusive designer chef restaurant at the Trump International Hotel & Tower-Waikiki Beach Walk, currently under construction, and a yet-announced restaurant at the current OHANA Islander Waikiki.

All of these new dining options at Waikiki Beach Walk and surrounding properties have created a "food lovers paradise" in the center Waikiki.
