When planning my May 2005 trip to Hawaii, I decided to spend a full week on Oahu. Knowing that my schedule would be busy and I would be away from Waikiki much of the time, I decided that I did not need the amenities of a resort hotel.
Rather, what I needed was a clean, conveniently located and secure place to stay, with a kitchenette where I could prepare my own meals and a washer and dryer in the room since I wanted to travel light and yet have clean clothes every day.
With the Castle Waikiki Shore, I found everything I was looking for and more. My room was located on the top floor towards the beach side of the building. I had a fantastic view of towards Diamond Head from my front door and a beautiful view overlooking Fort DeRussy Park towards the Hilton Hawaiian Village from my spacious lanai.
I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the security offered in accessing the guest rooms and the underground parking garage, and the efficient daily service offered by the housekeeping staff (an unusual amenity for a condominium property.)
My studio room was clean and recently renovated with air-conditioning, a king size bed, dresser, full kitchenette with dining area, cable TV and a large bathroom. The lanai also had a table and chairs that made for a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the view.
