The Lower Level appeared very similar to what I remembered. Most of the stores were entered from the outside of the mall alongside the parking garage. I noticed a few, more upscale, stores and I was reminded that there is a full size grocery store right in the mall. I made note of that since I was staying in a condo in Waikiki and had been looking for a grocery store that was close by. This was about as close as you can get to Waikiki.
As I wandered I noticed that there was a hula show on the large stage area on the Lower Level. The crowd was pretty large watching the show and I wanted to get a better view, so I took the escalator up to the Mall Level where I found a good spot to watch the show. It was very enjoyable.
I later learned that this Centerstage area of the Ala Moana Center features over 500 performances a year - all free! They feature local groups as well as visiting national and international entertainers. Every Sunday morning they host a Keiki (children's) Hula Show. A really neat feature of Centerstage is that you can view the performances from all three levels of the mall.
