Starwood conducts its business both directly and through its subsidiaries. Their brand names include Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, W, and Four Points.
Starwood's revenue is derived primarily from hotel and vacation ownership operations, which include the operation of the Company's owned hotels and vacation ownership properties, the operation of other hotels that are managed by Starwood Hotels and the receipt of franchise fees.
In Hawaii, Starwood operates under five of its major brand names: Sheraton, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, and Westin.
The Sheraton properties are the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and Sheraton Waikiki on the island of O'ahu; the Sheraton Kauai Resort; the Sheraton Keauhou Resort and Spa on Hawaii's Big Island; and the Sheraton Maui Resort.
The Westin properties operated by Starwood in Hawaii are The Moana Surfrider on O'ahu's Waikiki Beach; the Westin Maui Resort and Spa, located on world famous Ka'anapali Beach in West Maui; the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas located on Ka'anapali Maui's North Beach; and the brand new Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas on Kauai's North Shore.
The Royal Hawaiian on O'ahu's Waikiki Beach will be closing its doors on May 31, 2008 in order to undergo a complete renovation. The hotel will reopen January 1, 2009 with a new era of redefined luxury and as part of The Luxury Collection.
The Princeville Resort on Kauai's North Shore is currently part of Starwood's Luxury Collection, but the resort will be closing from Sept. 19, 2008 until April 19, 2009 and will reopen as a The St. Regis Resort, Princeville.
Starwood's W property in Hawaii is the W. Honolulu Diamond Head, formerly the Colony Surf Hotel, a 48-room property located at the foot of Diamond Head on the island of O'ahu.
With over 7000 units, comprising almost 15% of all hotel and resort lodgings in Hawaii (and an even higher percentage of accommodations designated as Deluxe or Luxury), the Starwood Hotels and Resorts of Hawaii should definitely be considered when planning your Hawaii vacation.
